WHAT TO BRING?

Most guests experience that they brought too much – travel light is the motto. Bring what you can fit into a soft duffel bag or normal backpack (please no suitcase). To save space i provide you with towels, bedding, first aid kit and diving equipment. If you forget something you can buy it here. However remember to bring insecticides, sunglasses, sunscreen and, if you need, motion sickness medicine.

HOW TO GET THERE?

After arriving in Cebu airport you can take a 2,5 h trip to Maolboal and have a rest in Herb´s Guesthouse.

Next day take the Ferry from Liloan to Dumaguete, hopp on the Bus to Siaton and ask to get dropped at the intersection to Tambobo,

From the Bus drop-off at the intersection ask one of the friendly Habal-Habal to bring you to Zamboangita, where comfortable overnight-stay can be found in GrandView Cottage Resort.

WHAT ABOUT INSURANCE?

You shall have some travel insurance. If you want to do diving, make sure that the insurance covers for that.

WHAT ABOUT VISA AND VACCINATION?

You get 28 days free visa upon arrival. If you want to stay longer you get an extension at the immigration office. It´s advisable to get a vaccination against hepatitis B. Otherwise there is no need for extra protection.

WHAT ABOUT TYPHOONS?

Where we sail in the southern Visayas, typhoons are relatively rare. We are merely affected by winds and rain. The weather forecast gives us good info about the track of the typhoons so we can be prepared.

WHAT ABOUT SAFETY ABOARD AND ON LAND?

We have a VHF radio and a life raft for 8 persons. We don´t sail far from land so in case of a health problem, care is within reach – SAFETY FIRST. In the southern Visayas you don´t have to watch over your shoulder – people are very nice and welcoming.

WHAT TO BUY IN THE PHILIPPINES?

Clothes, alcohol and tobacco are very cheap. You can also buy good handcrafts and South Sea pearls.

I HAVEN´T SAILED BEFORE IS THAT A PROBLEM?

No problem at all – you learn along the way.

SLEEPING ARRANGEMENT ABOARD?

There are seven berths down below and three in the cockpit under the stars.

I´M A VEGETARIAN, IS THAT A PROBLEM?

We stock up food for both meat eaters and vegetarians. 

IS THERE INTERNET ABOARD?

There is free internet aboard and the signal is mostly acceptable.

WHAT ABOUT PIRATES AND KIDNAPPERS?

There are areas in southern Mindanao where it can be problem. We simply avoid these areas altogether.

WHAT ABOUT MALARIA AND DENGUE FEVER?

There are few places in Philippine that have problem with those diseases. In any case of events, there is no need of bringing malaria medicine with you – the local medicine works best.

WHAT ABOUT  THE DIVING?

New Moon has complete equipment for six divers making 3 dives a day. You are of course free to bring your own equipment. 
Diving is your own responsibility and we can supply a dive guide.
We have never had any diving accident – SAFETY FIRST. 

WHERE ELSE TO GO?

There are many beautiful and safe places in the Philippines worth to visit. If you want to go somewhere else in the Philippines – lets talk about it. If you are with a bigger group than eight persons, there is a possibility to accommodate a large party together with two other boats.
